New Bed

Pops got his hospital bed today... he is using it some during the day, but still goes upstairs at night. It's nice to have when he's tired and doesn't want to sleep in the chair.

It is a pretty fancy bed with a special air mattress that alternates pressure points so it is supposed to help with not developing bed sores. The guy who set it up called it the "Cadillac" of hospital beds. Here is a photo of the bed... he hadn't even sat on it yet, but the cats and the grandkids had!

Arrived at Nano & Pops

We arrived at Nano & Pops today! Yay! We were excited to get here today and we were lucky enough to spend some time with the Haberman "boys" before they had to go home. My cousin, Craig, is a Methodist Minister and had a lovely Communion Service for Pops and the gang. It was a very special time I know none of us will ever forget. Thanks Craig!!

Worst Day Ever...

Well, today was probably the worst day on the roller coaster ride of the last few years with Pops' battle with cancer. He went to his oncologist appointment for the latest results of his cat scans and blood work. Basically, his Dr told him that his cancer has "exploded" and that there is nothing more that can be done medically for him. It is time for Hospice.

Needless to say this was devastating news for Pops, Nano and the whole family. His cancer has just progressed so quickly and we are not ready to deal with saying good-bye. So, we are just going to spend as much time together as we can and appreciate and love each other while we can. And, hopefully Hospice will keep Pops comfortable and pain free so we can have some quality time together.

Andres, the kids and I are driving up there this weekend to spend a week with Pops and Nano. Andres will fly home during the week to work and then fly back up to drive us back. I will post pics of our trip and I will relish every moment I get to spend with Pops. I know Zach and Mia are looking forward to the trip too... although they seem to be most excited about seeing the cats!

Please pray for Pops and our whole family at this time.

Updates

It has been a rough 24 hours for Pops and Nano!

Pops spent the night in the hospital last night and feels so much better after finally receiving his oxygen today! Nano said even his droopy face (bells palsy) looks better even after a day of oxygen. He is home and has a home oxygen unit and a portable unit as well. I know he will sleep well tonight.

Pops goes in to find out the results of his cat scan and blood work on Tuesday. Praying for some good news... I will post the update next week.

Nano had her eye surgery this morning and came through like a trooper. She has a bandage on her eye and it is very irritating and uncomfortable. She goes back to the eye Dr. for a check-up tomorrow and then early next week as well. We are praying for improved vision in her eye!

ER

Nano had to take Pops to the ER tonight because he was having trouble breathing especially when he tried to lay down. He still has not received his oxygen machine so he had to go to the ER.

Nano has her eye surgery in the morning, so Frank will take her and pick her up.

Please pray that Pops feels relief from the oxygen they give him and is able to get some rest. And also pray for Nano as she goes in for eye surgery.

Barbara Visits

Pops' big (little) sister, Barbara, came to Atlanta to visit Pops and Nano.

Cat Scan

Pops went in for his routine cat scan and blood work today. This is the visit that will tell us if he is doing well enough to start the new clinical trial drug. He had difficulty laying down during the cat scan due to having difficulty breathing. He is also having to sit up some at night due to having difficulty breathing.

Please pray for good scan results so he can start the new drug and for his oxygen machine to arrive soon.
