Air Hunger

Today was a difficult day for Pops as he had difficulties with his breathing. He felt very short of breath and had what is also referred to as "Air Hunger" which caused him a great deal of panic and anxiety. He saw both his RN and his CNA today and they decided to treat his breathing difficulties by adding morphine back to his list of medications as well as benzodiazepines as needed for his anxiety related to feeling out of breath. I did some research and recommended that they get a fan for him to blow air on his face which is also supposed to reduce anxiety and panic and help alleviate his Air Hunger issues.

Nano came home from work early today to be with Pops and she and Aunt Kathryn helped make him more comfortable too. Pops also continues on 100% oxygen even through these "Air Hunger" episodes. I was reading this is common in people with advanced late stage cancer.

My good friend Nicole visited with Pops, Nano and Kathryn tonight and brought them some yummy meals and desserts. It is so nice to have such wonderful friends who can visit and spend time with them when Richard, Andres and I can't be there.
